When we provide our children with an excess of material things, or when we do for them what they’re capable of doing for themselves - we’re actually overindulging them. I’ve seen frequently through my work with clients from Plymouth Meeting, Malvern, Bala Cynwyd and every town in between that when we assume responsibility for keeping our children entertained or give them too much power over family matters, we do them a disservice. It’s our job to teach our children how to survive in a world where people don’t always get what they want - and to realize they’re fortunate to get what they need.
